Shelby Herling.

I began my career in communications after earning a B.A. in English and American Literature with a focus on Creative Writing from New York University. My early work in writing and internal communications showed me how clear, thoughtful language can build connection and trust—skills that continue to guide how I approach people, systems, and problem-solving.

Today, I work as a Patient Navigator at Northwell Huntington Hospital’s Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center, where I manage clinic operations, coordinate patient care, and serve as the link between patients, providers, and administrative teams. In this role, I support efficiency and teamwork across departments and see firsthand how strong operational structures and empathetic communication shape the patient experience.

To expand my impact, I am pursuing an M.S. in Digital Marketing at Baruch College’s Zicklin School of Business. My goal is to blend marketing analytics, digital strategy, and healthcare operations to improve how organizations connect with and serve their patients—creating systems that are both data-driven and deeply human-centered.
